Cannibal Corpse/Napalm Death/Immolation/Magrudergrind - Orlando, FL 6/12/2013

Wow, what a great show! This was the last night of the tour, so I was hoping for a few hijinks but alas, nothing weird happened. All the bands were firing on all cylinders and we were treated to one of the most brutal nights of metal that I've ever witnessed.

First off, we were treated to MAGRUDERGRIND, a trio from the Northeast (listed as being from Washington DC/Brooklyn). This is one of those bands that really opens your eyes when it comes to being a non-traditional act. These guys are drums/guitar/vocals only. Even though there's no bassist in the band, the music sounds full and is extremely aggressive grindcore. The crowd was really into them and were really satisfied with their set.

Second, we got the mighty IMMOLATION! This was my second time (first was 2006) seeing them. These guys are extremely entertaining... Rob Vigna's hands and arms are constantly moving, which is really mesmerizing when you focus on his performance alone. Cascades of hair is what you get when Russ Dolan is not singing... his head never stops moving whether he's headbanging or shaking it side-to-side. I also love how Dolan enunciates everything. You can understand 95% of what he sings, which is so different from most death metal bands out there today. An excellent performance from an excellent band.

Third, the legends NAPALM DEATH treated us to an awesome set. Now I have to be honest, I never got into ND. We've said it many times on the show, we can't be into everything. But I was very excited to see ND for the first time ever. It was a bucket list moment for me. Barney Greenway is one funny dude! Shane Embury is a monster on bass and I couldn't help watching him for most of their set. He's got one of the undeniable bass sounds that just cuts through you when he plays. The crowd loved every minute of it and there was a circle pit the whole time.

Lastly, headliners CANNIBAL CORPSE took the stage. It was an honor for me to be taking pictures in the photo pit... and I have to say that Corpsegrinder is extremely intimidating when you're standing under him taking photos (see below). Obviously, the crowd had a circle pit going for the whole show. I was very surprised (and amused) when Corpsegrinder introduced the song "Addicted to Vaginal Skin" as two gorgeous young ladies rushed pass me to the edge of the circle pit and were singing all the lyrics! Those are hardcore fans! All-in-all, this was another excellent show by CC and I could not have asked for a better ending to the night.

See all the pictures I took of the show below!
